Ghorepani Poon hill trek is one of the most popular short treks in Annapurna region. This trek is a perfect combination of culture and nature where you will get delightful warm welcome of friendly ethnic Gurung people in their cultural villages. And of course the magnificent view of Annapurna Himalaya range is incredible. It is the best way to explore beauty of Annapurna region in a very short span of time. You don’t need to go through any difficult climb. This trek can be done at any season except during Monsoon because in  Monsoon the routes are damp and you will not get to enjoy the mountain views. 

 Poon hill is one of the most popular view point in entire region or the country itself. Rising and setting of the sun on the backdrop of snow covered peaks glowing red by the burning sun is a life time memento. Trekking to Ghandruk village and observing the ethnic culture of the Gurung people is great achievement of this trek. This is one of the short trekking with lots of magnificent view of nature and cultural experiences. We can get lots of experience about Annapurna region within short duration. This trek leads us to natural places, cultural villages, magnificent forest areas, and high view point. We recommend this trek to those people who don’t have enough time for long trekking but really want see the wonderland in Annapurna region.

Ghorepani Poonhill trek starts from Nayapul and ascend to the ridge called Tikhedhunga. After Tikhedhunga the trail moves to the exotic place, Ghorepani. Next day we hike to  Poonhill (3210 m) to see the views of phenomenal sunrise and mountains. After splendid view from Poonhill the trail passes  rhododendron forest to reach Tadapani and then Ghandruk. Next,we follow the trail until we reach Nayapul and then we drive to Pokhara and to Kathmandu.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Kathmandu (1,400 m) Arrival Day

Day 02: Full day Kathmandu tour

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (835 m).

Day 04: Trek to Tikhedhunga (1,577 m).~ Drive to Nayapul 42 km, Trek 4-5 hours

Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2,853 m).~ 6 hours

Day 06: Trek to Tadapani (2,630 m) via Poon Hill (3,210 m).~ 5 hours

Day 07: Trek to Ghandruk (1,900 m).~ 6 hours

Day 08: Trek back to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara (835 m).~ 4 hours trek, 1 hour drive

Day 09: Drive or fly to Kathmandu

Day 10: Final departure.

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is concern able part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food, they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we have good health, average physical fitness, passionate, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1400 m).
After your arrival, you will meet our airport representative in TIA where you will be picked up & transfer to Hotel. After getting rest you can visit around Thamel market and rest overnight.

Day 02: Tour over Kathmandu valley.
Full day Guided tour in Kathmandu valley where you will get to visit historical and cultural spots and holy pilgrimage shrines like  Pashupatinath, Bauddhanath stupa, Swayambhunath the famous monkey temple, Kathmandu Darbar square, Patan darbar square and Bhaktapur darbar square and other sightseeing places.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara driving for 200 km.
We travel through via Bus/Car and stay overnight at Pokhara.  On the way we can see Trishuli river which is famous for rafting, the beauty of green forest, and edge of the Trishuli river leads you to Munglin and cross the Trishuli river. We travel all the way to west after 4hours from Trishuli Bridge we will be in Pokhara. Before end of the day we visit some sightseeing places of Pokhara. Prepare for tomorrow trekking and rest overnight.

Day 04: Drive from pokhara to Nayapul and trek Tikhedhunga (1,577 m).
Zigzag road will lead us to Nayapul (1,070 m.) and then trek to birethanti riverside village. Trail starts follow the Bhurungi Khola and grudally up side of the valley to reach Tikhedhunga/ lodge. And rest overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,853 m).
Trail ascend to Ulleri Village and passing through a pleasant Rhododendron forest, beautiful landscape and view of mountain gives you energy ascends to reach at the top of Ghorepani pass. Ghorepani is the  village with some lodges, most of the tourist take rest before Poon hill.   Few hours walk will leads us to top of the Ghorepani where we can see fabulous view of Dhulagiri and Annapurna range.

Day 06: Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani (2,170 m) via Poon Hill (3,210 m).
We start trekking through rhododendron forest and walk almost 1hour to reach Poon hill. From here we can see panoramic view of high Himalayas stretching from far western Dolpa, mustang, magnificent view of sunrise and Dhaulagiri in the northeast part. Next, then walk back to Ghorepani for breakfast and start trekking to Tadapani. Our trail moves through numeric ridge and pine rhododendron forest. After few hour walk we will be in Tadapani and rest overnight at lodge.

Day 07: Trek from Tadapani (2,170 m) to Ghandruk (1,900 m).
our trails moves descending through the dark rhondrondon forest, actually these forest turn in to a beautiful garden it depends upon season and Passing through the lush moss-covered forest toward Ghandruk village. Ghandruk is one of the most legendary settlements of Gurung tribe of Nepal and cultural inhabitant of the Annapurna trail. From here we can see magnificent view of fish tail, Annapurna, and Hiun chuli, also we can visit the museum of Gurung community and rest overnight.

Day 08: Trek back from Ghandruk (1,900 m) to Nayapul.
Today we descend through hills about 3-4 hours and then end the trek and drive back to Pokhara. Our trail start all the way down to Nayapul. We descend our trail stepping on stair case paved with stone slabs, curving in and out and enter terraced farm. Next we walk all the way down without any break until Modhi khola, when we reach Birathanti it takes half an hour to Nayapul, here our journey by foot come to end, and we drive back to Pokhara and rest overnight at Pokhara 

Day 09: Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
Today we will leave Pokhara and travel to Kathmandu (210 km). When you reach Kathmandu there will be celebration on successful completion of your journey. we will arrange dinner in Nepali restaurant with various cultural show and rest overnight.

Day 10: Farewell Friends!!!
Today is your last day in Nepal after breakfast we will receive you and drive you to TIA for your departure.
