Makalu (8,418 m) is the 5th highest peak of the world and is one of the most beautiful Himalaya of Nepal. Makalu Base Camp trek is the blend of Nature, cultural and adventure. Most of the trekking route of Makalu region is located inside the Makalu Barun National park which is established in 1992. This trekking will leads you to the remote part of Nepal. Lovely high grazing area close to the tip of the Barun Glacier and surrounded by an awe-inspiring array of Himalayan peaks. Makalu base camp trek is the best trekking destination for those who seek to enjoy both natural and cultural beauty throughout the trek. Trekkers can enjoy the panoramic view of Mt. Makalu (8,481 m), Mt. Everest (8,848 m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m) and many other snow capped peaks.
This fascinating trek to the base camp of the world 5th highest mountain offers you the entire wilderness of cultural villages, snow capped mountains, variety in floras and faunas, cultural people and their hospitality, old and ancient temples and stupas and much more interesting and exciting beauty around. During trekking to Makalu Base Camp we walk through several villages and spend night at a home stay accommodation. It is the best opportunity to observe their lifestyle and culture. In this trek we walk through Makalu Barun National Park and conservation area. If we are lucky during the trek we can see some of the rare animals of high altitude such as Mountain Thar, Musk Deer, Wild Boar, Red Panda, wild Yak, Snow Leopard and Birds.

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is most concern part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food, they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.
Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.
Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture. There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.
Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we have good health, average physical fitness, passionate, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.
Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.
Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu (1400 m).
Upon your Arrival we assist you from Kathmandu airport and then transfer to hotel. After getting rest and refreshed we will take you to the dinner in Nepali restaurant with cultural show. Prepare for tomorrow schedule and rest overnight.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.
Today we provide you a guided tour around Kathmandu valley to visit world heritage sites and sightseeing spots. We will visit Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Boudhanath and Pashupatinath. After exploration of heritage site we will drop you hotel. Prepare for tomorrow trip check your bag packs and rest overnight.
Day 03: Fly from Kthmandu to Tumlintar (518 m) and trek to Khadbari (1,040 m).
Today we fly a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Tumlintar (580 m) and then walk for 4hours all the way to Khandbari (1,040m). Walk through small villages, forest trail ascend to ridge then walk on a plateau and gradually climb to reach Khadbari. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 04: Trek to Chichila (1,830 m).
Today we trek from Khandbari walking for 5-6hours all the way to Chichila (1,830 m). Trail moves through picturesque village and walk to the uphill, rhododendron forest and bamboo groves. Next we will reach Chichila which is small settlement of Gurung community. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 05: Trek to Num (1,490 m).
Today we trek from Chichila walking for 5-6 hours all the way to Num (1,490 m). We start walking with the stunning view of snow capped mountain. On the way to trekking we can see the magnificent view of Makalu and it’s surrounded. Next trail descend for 2 hours then we will be Num. exp0lore around and rest overnight.
Day 06: Trek to Sedua (1,460 m).
Today we trek from Num walking for 5-6hours all the way to Sedua (1,460 m). Trail descend through terraced field and forest to reach Barun river then ascend to the forest of the valley; where Makalu Barun national park starts here we must register our trekking permit. Next we will be Seduwa and rest overnight.
Day 07: Trek to Tashi Gaon (2,070 m).
Today we trek from Sedua walking for 5-6 hours all the way to Tashi Gaon (2,070 m). Trail ascend ridge between the Ipsuwa River to the west and Kasuwa River to the east. Walk through quite villages and pass the paddy field to reach Tashi Goan. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 08: Trek to Kauma (3,470 m).
Today we trek from Tashi Gaon walking for 6-7 hours all the way to Kauma (3,470 m). Today is one of the hard days of our trekking. Trail moves through ridge, forest and sheep pasture. Next we descend to Kauma. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 09: Trek to Mumbak (3,570 m).
Today we trek from Kauma walking for 5-6 hours all the way to Mumbuk (3,570 m). We climb to the ridge and walk through forest on the top of the ridge with the splendid view of Chamlang (7,290 m), Peak 6 (6,739 m), and Peak 7 (6,105 m). Trail descends from the forest to reach Mumbak. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 10: Trek to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m).
Today we trek from Mumbuk walking for 6 hours all the way to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m). Trail descends to steep steam and rocky trail will lead us to the glacial valley; here we can get the beautiful view of Peak 6 (6,739 m). Next we will be Nhe Kharka which located on a large open grassy plain with the great view of Mountains. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 11: Trek to Sherson (4,615 m).
Today we trek from Nhe Kharka walking for 7hours all the way to Sherson (4,615 m). Today we leave rhododendron forest and join to the alpine tundra. On the way we can get the Majestic view of Pyramid Peak (7,168 m), Peak 4 (6,720 m). Next we will be Sherson, explore around and rest overnight.
Day 12: Trek to Makalu Base Camp (5,000 m).
Today we trek from Sherson walking for 4-5 hours all the way to Makalu Base Camp (5,000 m). We gradually climb to reach 5000 m and see the towering view of Makalu (8,481 m), Everest (8,848 m), Lhotse (8,516 m) and many other peaks. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 13: Exploration Day in Makalu Base Camp (5,000 m).
Today we explore Makalu Base Camp. Enjoy the fascinating snowcapped Mountain View all around. Makalu base camp is rocky barren with the Barun glacier beyond it. Fro base camp we can see the magnificent view south face of Makalu and beautiful panorama of Everest and Lhotse. Explore around lakes, views and glacier and rest overnight.
Day 14: Trek back to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m).
Today we trek from Makalu Base Camp walking for 7 hours all the way to Nhe Kharka (3,000 m). Trail descends back through forest, ridge, and villages. We walk through Sherson to reach Nhe Kharka. Rest overnight.
Day 15: Trek to Mumbak (3,570 m).
Today we trek from Nhe Kharka walking for 6 hours all the way to Mumbuk (3,570 m). Trail ascends with the majestic view of Chamlang (7,290 m), Peak 6 (6,739 m), and Peak 7 (6,105 m) behind us. We moves through the ridge descend to Mumbak and rest overnight.
Day 16: Trek to Kauma (3,470 m).
Today we trek from Mumbuk walking for 5 hours all the way to Kauma (3,470m). Trail goes through forest and ascends to the ridge. From here we can get the view of Green valley of Barun and Mountains to the north. Next we ascend to Kauma and rest overnight.
Day 17: Trek to Tasi Gaon (2,070 m).
Today we trek from Kauma walking for 5 hours all the way to Tashi Gaon (2,070 m). Walk through paddy field, villages and ridges with the beautiful view of valleys and villages. Trail descends from ridge to reach Tasi Gaon and rest overnight.
Day 18: Trek to Pukuwa (1,520 m).
Today we trek from Tashi Gaun walking for 6 hours all the way to Pukuwa (1,520 m). Walk through farming settlement of Rai community. Continue walk through forest, and pass several stream to reach Pukuwa. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 19: Trek to Bumling (1,160 m).
Today we trek from Pukuwa walking for 5 hours all the way to Bumling (1,160 m). Fallow narrow path and walk through forest and climb over rocky ridge. Next we will reach Chettri village Bumling and rest overnight.
Day 20: Trek to Tumlintar (518 m).
Today we trek from Bumling walking for 4 hours all the way to Tumlintar (580 m). Trail fallows the east bank of Arun River, pass Chyawabesi and short climb will brings us to Tumlingtar. Explore around and rest overnight.
Day 21: Fly back from Tumlintar to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Today early in the morning after breakfast we fly from Tumlintar back to Kathmandu. Visit some place and colorful handicraft market in Kathmandu and celebrate your last night in Kathmandu and rest overnight.
Day 22: Farewell friends.
Today we assist you to airport for your safe departure.
