Tsum valley is one of the most sacred and remote Himalayan pilgrimage valley in Nepal.  This valley is located in Gorkha district. Word Tsum comes from the Tibetan word “Tsombo” which means Vivid. Valley is rich in ancient Tibetan culture and tradition and is one of the most beautiful valley. Tsum valley is surrounded by the mighty mountains Ganesh Himal to south, Shringi Himal to north, Boudha Himal and Hiunchuli in the west in backdrop of valley and the valley offers most spectacular view of these mountains. People in Tsum valley are rich in culture and tradition; speaks their own Tibetan dialects and still practice polyandry. They celebrate festivals like Lhosar, Dhacyhang, Dawa, and Fanning.

Tsum valley trek was restricted for foreigners until 2008 and still today very little travelers have made their way to the valley. Tsum valley trek takes you to one of the majestic surrounding of the valley which was once important trade link between Tibet and Nepal. Monasteries of this valley are one of the important attractions for trekkers. Here we can visit Mu Gompa, Rachen Gompa and Dephyyudona Gompa. Which are very important according to Buddhism. The valley is drained by Shear river which source is glacier if Ganesh himal and Siringi himal. Here we can see Himalayan Thar and blue sheep. Probably this valley is one of the remotest valleys with its unique culture.  

Tsum valley trek starts and ends at Aarughat which is at 7 hours driving distance from Kathmandu valley. En route you will ascend from Budhi Gandaki valley passing through dense forest, terraced farmlands, beautiful villages, Yak pastures, Mani walls, chortens, ancient monasteries, high passes, Caves, deep gorge, fissures of Marsyangdi River and many more. Mani walls made up of stone slab are inscribed with prayers and carved with pictures of deity.  Soon you will leave Annapurna circuit trekking route, passing through alpine forest and glacial river you will enter the valley of Tsum where the trail opens into the alpine meadow. You will be delighted by magnificent scenery and warm Hospitality of the villagers.  You will also get to visit ancient Gompas in the region like Rachen Gompa, Mu Gompa, Dephyudonma Gompa.

More Information

Meals:
When you travel to the new place for your holiday, food is most concern part of travel. While, traveling with Yarsa treks, you can experience the delightful cuisine of typical Nepali food, continental food, Italian food, Chinese food and different international cuisine. You will be suggested by your guide for good food during your trip. During the trek do not order many dishes and waste food, they have to cater more trekkers before they run off stuck. It is very hard and takes week or more for caravan and porter to brings the food in these places. You will take lunch in route side, breakfast and dinner will arrange in the same lodge/Tea house.

Drinking Water:
During the trek you can get the bottled water but it is hard to dispose plastic and it will be the big problem for environment. We will provide purified mineral water during trek. In tea house you can get bottle water and mineral water in additional cost. It will better to drink mineral water rather than bottled water.

Accommodations:
We provide you best touristic hotel in Kathmandu/Pokhara with best location. During the trek tea house is main accommodation for trekkers. A tea house is combination of lodge and restaurant. In the tea house lodge are fairly basic, some tea house you can get separate room but in the high altitude rooms are spare with two beds with blanket and little additional furniture.  There will be large dining room where you can get the warm by Bukhara stove. In the tea house there will be the solar electricity but these days most of the tea houses have electricity for charge Camera, Mobile phones and other small appliances.

Things to take:
This is very active trip we can’t stay in same place. You can take very light and necessary things. You will get porter he will carry 30 kg it means 2 trekkers=1 porter. Porters are allowed to carry 30 kg of your stuff. Porter will carry your necessary stuff in duffel bag.

Health & Fitness:
These treks are some of moderate and some of strenuous, passionate trekkers should have ability to walk for 4-7 hours a day. Trekking to the high altitude is more challenging than the low altitude. To complete the trip we have good health, average physical fitness, passionate, confidence, determination and positive attitude. If you have past hiking experience or exercising habits it will be the better for your trek. If you have pre-existing health problem such as lung, heart and other diseases it is better to consult with your doctor or inform Yarsa treks before booking the trip.

Suitable Time to Trek:
For Trekking to the high altitude we should concern about the weather condition. Autumn (Sept-Nov) and spring (March-May) is the best season for trekking in Himalayas. Trekking in summer and Monsoon (June-Aug) is affected by rain. You can also trek in winter but tempters could be most harsh for most trekkers.

Important notes:
If you’re confused to pack up your necessary things just see in the check list tab. Bring light and necessary things. You will need medium size bag to carry your daily usable stuff. The weather is subject to change in high altitude so layered clothing is recommended throughout the trek.

Day 01: Welcome to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Upon your arrival we assist you from Kathmandu airport to hotel. After getting rest and refreshed there will be Nepali dinner with cultural shows and prepare for tomorrow. rest overnight.

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Arughat (670 m).
Today we drive for 8hours From Kathmandu all the way to Arughat Bazaar. On the way we fallow Trishuli River; which is famous river for rafting. We leave Trishuli River from Malakhu (famous place for fish of Trishuli River) and fallow the Dhadingbesi highway to reach Arught and rest overnight.

Day 03: Trek from Arughat to Soti Khola (710 m).
Today we trek from Arughat walking for 6-7hours all the way to Soti Khola. We walk through wide way and pass several villages. We are surrounded by green forest and we can see the waterfalls some of the place. We will take lunch at the mid-way to soti Khola. On the way we pass through Sal and Chelaune vegetation. Next we reach Soti Khola here is you can find swimming spot at the river and rest overnight.

Day 04: Trek from Soti Khola to Machha Khola (890 m).
Today we trek from Soti Khola walking for 6-7hours all the way to Machha Khola. We start our trail crossing bridge and walk through Sal and Chelaune forest. Further we climb ridge on Budi Gandaki to reach Khursane and rocky trail goes up and down to pass tropical waterfalls. Eventually pass rice terraces then we will in Labubesi. After Lububesi trail drops to Sandy River, short walk on the ridge and cross the suspension bridge to reach Machha Khola and rest overnight.

Day 05: Trek from Machha Khola to Dovan (1,100 m).
Today we trek from Machha Khola walking for 6hours all the way to Dovan. Trail starts with minor ascend and descend, crosses the Tharo Khola and we will reach Khorlabari. After few walk we will be in natural hot spring tatopani. We start climb staircase and cross landside and ridge climb we will in Dovan and rest overnight.

Day 06: Trek from Dovan to Philim (1,590 m).
Today we trek from Dovan walking for 6hours all the way to Philim. We start trekking rock ridge to Sallari and descend to Serdibas. After Serdibas village trail continue up to Ghatta Khola and walking upstream. Next crosses suspension bridge in Philim and Rest overnight.

Day 07: Trek from Philim to Chumling (2,360 m).
Today we trek from Philim walking for 7hours all the way to Chumling (Lower Tsum). We walk through narrow valley to Ekle Bhati and tral drops through steepy gorge to new bridge. Zigzag track through rhododendron and pine forest leads us to lower Tsum valley, descend and steeply ascend through forest, past rock fall, drop to Gumling and Siyar khola. Next we will cross the bridge, ascend the steep, and narrow way to Chumling. Here we can see the classical stoneTibetan houses with slop roof and firewood on the roof and rest overnight.

Day 08: Trek from Chumling to Chho Kangparo(3,010 m).
Today we trek from Chumling walking for 5-6hours all the way to Chhokangparo (Upper Tsum). We start trail by crossing suspension bridge, ascend up, pass Gompa with amazing view of Ganesh himal. Trail drops, cross Sarphu khola; which came from Syakpa glacier of Shringi himal(7,101 m) and almost 3 hours trail we will be in Tsum valley. The valley linkes two village Chhokang and Paro; known as Chhokangparo in one word. Here we can see stone houses and barley fertile field of maize, potatos and buckwheat. Get the view of Himalchuli(7,893 m) and rest overnight.

Day 09: Trek from Chhokangparo to Nile/Chhule (3,480 m).
Today we trek from Chhokangparo to walking for 4-5hours all the way to Nile/Chhule. After exploration linked villages trail climb north where Kongdhog died after 26 years of meditation; here people speak Tsumba which is related to Tibetan language. We walk through chortans before passing Lamagaon; here we can get the view of huge countryyard of Rachen gompa. Next beyond the Burji village trail lead us to Milarepas cave (bringer of Buddhism in Tibet meditated place) and we can see the stupa before enter gate to large village Nile/Chhule. Rest overnight.

Day 10: Trek Nile/Chhule to Mu Gompa (3,700 m).
Today we trek from Nile/Chhule walking for 4hours all the way to Mu Gompa (3,700 m). On our way we visit Dhephyudonma Gompa (4,060 m). Trail start through Tibetan countryside and passing rows of chortens and broad benign vista. Next we will be Mu Gompa and rest overnight.

Day 11: Excursion day at Mu Gompa.
Explore the sightseeing spot and experience the culture of the inhabitants. Today we explore Mu Gompa which is established in 1895 AD and largest Gompa of this region. the monestary houses 100 monks, religious books, statue of Aralokkitashwara, and image of Guru Tara and Padmasambhara. Rest overnight.

Day 12: Trek from Mu Gompa to Rachen Gompa (4,060 m).
Today we trek from Mu Gompa walking for 5hours all the way to Rachen Gompa. On our way we visit Gonhgye Gompa.  After exploring Mu Gompa we start trail rachen gompa which is established in 1905 AD. This is the largest nunneries of Tsum valley; which is 1000 clay, large statue, a bright color, large prayer wheel and curved throne. This is female equivalent of Kathmandu Dopan monastery and rest overnight at tea house.

Day 13: Trek From Rachen to Dumje.
Today we trek from Rachen Gompa walking for 6-7hours all the way to Dumja. Trail start passing different villages, ridges, valleys to reach Dumje; explore around and rest overnight.

Day 14: Trek from Dumje to Philim (1,600 m).
Today we trek from Dumje walking for 6-7hours all the way to Philim. We start our trail ascend and descent; on the way we will pass through magnificent waterfalls in lower Tsum valley. After crossing lower Tsum valley and few walk will lead us to Philim and rest overnight.

Day 15: Trek from Philim to Tatopani (950 m).
Today we trek from Philim walking for 6-7hours all the way to Tatopani. Today we trek through Jagat, Deng and other small villages to reach Tatopani . Trail moves down to Ghatta Khola and descend through Salleri with rocky ridge. Next Jagat we will be in Budigandaki bank and climb to Thadovarang. After crossing Yarku Khola     and down to stair case and crosses again Budhigandaki will lead us to Tatopani; here you can get natural hot spring and get relief.  Rest overnight.

Day 16: Trek from Tatopani to Soti Khola (710 m).
Today we trek from Tatopani walking for 6-7hours all the way to Soti Khola. After few walk we will reach Khorlabari and crosses Tharo khola. Next we will reach Maccha Khola and cross suspension bridge, Gurung settlement Labubasi, tropical waterfalls and passing rocky way lead us to meet Soti Khola and rest overnight.

Day 17: Trek from Soti Khola to Arughat (670 m).
Today we trek from Soti Khola walking for 6hours all the way to Arughat Bazar. We trek through Sal vegetation and crosses and several villages. On the way we will enjoy the view of waterfalls and lifestyle of local communities. Next we will be Arughat and rest overnight.

Day 18: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,400 m).
Today early in the morning after breakfast we drive back from Arughat Bazar all the way to Kathmandu. We will move through Dhadingbesi and meet the Trishuli River which is famous for rafting. Next we will drive through Malakhu to Kathmandu. There will be celebration on completion of your trekking and rest overnight.

Day 19: Final Departure.
Today after lunch Yarsa treks will assist you to international airport for your final departure from Kathmandu. There will be small farewell program before your departure.
